Sledding With Friends

A rowdy bunch!

The kids all had a fun time sledding at a small hill close to our house. The snow was deep but the temperature was just right for some runs down the hill.

Winter Wonderland.....Again

I sure am glad I don't have to go to the bathroom outside!
We went to bed without power and woke up to another winter wonderland. The kids enjoyed there time sleeping by the fire. I on the other hand was very excited to have the power back on after the 3 hours without it. I must say that I think God used that power outage as a time for us to thank about all the things that he provides for us. He gave us free firewood to keep warm, 4-wheel drive to get us home, the warm house, the fire place, the many blankets we slept under, and the list goes on. God uses the craziest of things to get your attention.

Cookies,Frosting, and Kids...A Great Combination

Sunday we had time to do a little cookie decorating. The kids were so excited. They helped me bake the cookies and couldn't wait to get their hands in the frosting. The kids were very proud to be able to share their creations with a couple of neighbors.Zach managed to frost 2 cookies out of the 3 dozen we had. What works of art!

Christmas Morning

We had our first Christmas here is Colorado. It was small and not at all what I am use to but it was very special and we had a wonderfully relaxing time. The kids woke up around 6:00am but they didn't come wake us up. They just played in there room until they heard Brandon making coffee. That was one of the greatest gifts of the day. The rest of the day we sat around and played and played and played and played. It was very tiring. We hope that your Christmas was a memorable one as well!
Zach's favorite gift was, without a doubt, this Star Wars Transformer. He carried it around all day saying "Lillie can't get it or Santa would punish him". Where he comes up with this stuff no one knows. The girls had several favorite gifts including these Password Journals. They need them to record their most secretest secrets. This is what was left over for me. What a mess! If the kids wouldn't of have enjoyed it so much I might really be upset:)

What A Beautiful Day!

I woke up this morning to a beautiful blue sky. The snow is beginning to melt. My van is still stuck in the drive way so we won't be going anywhere until Brandon gets home from work. The kids got dressed and ran out to play first thing. They have never seen snow quite like this and are enjoying every minute of it.

"I think that it is a bit sunny out here"

"I am going to dig out the snowmen"

"MMM, this snow tastes good"

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Oh the weather outside is frightful though the fire is so delightful. When there's really no place to go....Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow! 2 feet of the white stuff has fallen since yesterday and it is still coming down. Not as heavy so hopefully we are at the end of it. The girls had fun playing in it yesterday while Zach and I hunkered down by the fire. We don't have to dream of a white Christmas it looks like we have one.

Christmas With My Parents

This last weekend we were able to spend time with my parents celebrating Christmas. I love them dearly. We had a weekend of wonderful food, family, and fun. My mom is often the butt of our jokes, and in the middle of all of our playing wether she likes it or not. She is such a trooper.

Marilyn and Jerry(A.K.A. Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa)
The grandkids all got dart guns and had fun shooting Grandma

My mom giving the turkey an enema.
Mom injected the marinade, Dad fried it, and we all ate the delicious bird.

Why JESUS is Better Than Santa Claus
(PG) Submitted By: Anonymous

Santa lives at the North Pole ...
JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh ...
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year ...
JESUS is an ever present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies ...
JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited ...
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters yourheart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa ...
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap ...
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi littleboy (or girl,) what's your name?" ... JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know ourname, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly ...
JESUS has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO ...
JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry" ...
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys ...
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs brokenhomes and builds mansions.

Santa is a "jolly old elf"...
JESUS is the King of Kings

Santa may make you chuckle but ...
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree ...
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree.

Christmas Cookies

Zach and I had a wonderful time making cookies today. He is quite the helper for about 5 minutes then he is bored and off to do the next thing. I wish that I had half of his energy. The cookies turned out great! They are Andies mint.

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

One of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season is to look at Christmas lights. Some of my favorite memories of Christmas are driving around with my family and then going to eat dinner at Pizza Hut. We did that every year and I loved it. Who knew that something as simple as Christmas lights could make such wonderful rememberances. One of these days I am going to make my house one of those houses that everyone drives by because the display is sooo great. I want all of the families to "OOOOOH and AWWWWW" and make there own memories of lights. This year I am thankful that we got this much up but you just wait.

The Legend of the Candy Cane

According to the legend, there was a candy maker who wanted to invent a candy that was a witness to Christ. The result was the candy cane.

First of all he used a hard candy because Christ is the Rock of all ages.

This hard candy was shaped so that it would resemble either a "J" for Jesus or a shepherd's staff.

He made it white to represent the Purity of Christ.

Finally a red stripe was added to represent the blood of Christ shed for the sins of the world and three thinner stripes for the stripes He received on our behalf when the Roman soldiers whipped Him.

Sometimes a green stripe is added as a reminder that Jesus is a Gift from God. The flavor of the candy is peppermint which is similar to hyssop. Hyssop is in the mint family and was used in the Old Testament for purification and sacrifice. Jesus is the Pure Lamb of God come to be a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

So the next time you see a candy cane, hear the Sermon it preaches: Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, is the Rock of all Ages who suffered and died for our sins.

You Can't Take Christ out of Christmas

The Month Before Christmas

Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying Nor taking a stand.

Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a " Holiday".
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Warner, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Allen, on Coleman, on Clinton!

At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!
