Filled to the Brim
Sharon Jaynes

Today’s Truth

“Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water’; so they fill them to the brim” (John 2:7 NIV)

Friend to Friend

Shortly after Jesus was baptized, he attended a wedding reception in the town of Cana, in Galilee. Apparently, Jesus felt very comfortable at such a party, and I imagine Him laughing, mingling, and having a good time with His friends. Near the end of the festivities, the servants let Mary in on a dilemma – they were out of wine. To run out of wine at a Jewish wedding celebration was an embarrassment and disgrace to the hosting family. Mary turned to her son and said, “They have no more wine,” (John 2:3 NIV) as if she expected Him to do something about it. I can almost see her raised eyebrow and the mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Jesus said, “Dear woman, why do you involve me? My time has not yet come” (John 2:4).

Mary turned to the servants and said, “Do what ever He tells you.” Mary seemed to understand Jesus’ power before anyone else.

Jesus told the servants to fill six large thirty gallon stone pots with water. So they filled them “to the brim.” Then He told them to draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.

When they did so, the master tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He then called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

I often wonder what would have happened if the servants had filled the pots half full or three fourths full. I imagine Jesus would have transformed exactly what they put in. Likewise, God will transform just as much of our lives as we give Him. As for me, I want to “fill it to the brim,” give Him all of my life – every bit of it. It is the same with my marriage. I want to give Jesus all of my marriage…to the brim. So in our winter years, my husband and I will agree…we have saved the best till now.

Skiing with the Family

We had a wonderful day on Monday. We were able to take our kids skiing for the first time. We met our friends at Solvista and made a million memories. The kids were amazing. You never know what to expect when you take 3 kids anywhere but God was watching over us and we couldn't have asked for a better time. The girls picked it up right away. They have no fear. By the end of the day they were going in the trees, doing jumps, and going faster than I ever think about going. I was so proud of how well they did. Zach needs a couple more tries before he is on his own but he did great skiing between our legs. I was afraid that he wouldn't go on the lift so you can understand how pleased I am that he actually skied. At one point he was crying because Brandon and I wouldn't take him on a black. He of course had know idea what he was asking.
We were so blessed to get to spend the day with the Jones' and the Dishmans. Larry took the task of teaching the kids and he did an outstanding job. They were much more apt to listen to him than they were to me. We were all able to take turns skiing with all of the kids and it made for a very enjoyable day. Thank goodness for great friends.
I wouldn't hesitate to go again. We had more fun than I ever expected. The kids are already planning when we get to go again. I hope that it is soon.

Excited and ready to go!

Here's the group!( minus Brett and Alec because they were too fast)

Kia, Brooklyn, Sidney, Madi, Josiah, Zach

Two skiing buddies after a long day!

Nothing better than hitting the hot tub after a day on the slopes.

The kids were amazed that they could swim outside in the winter. What fun!

Brandon and I chose not to get into the hot tub. We thought "why bother"!

What better way to warm up than to stand under the hand dryers.

Happy Balemtime's Day!

There is nothing better than waking up to a beautiful boquet of flowers and some wonderfully homemade cards. My family spoils me and I love them very much. I hope that you all have someone to spoil you today. As Zach would say "Happy Balemtime's Day!"

What Is Normal?

You Are 45% Normal

While some of your behavior is quite normal...

Other things you do are downright strange

You've got a little of your freak going on

But you mostly keep your weirdness to yourself

Evidently I am a closet weirdo. Who knew? I thought I was a little more normal than that but you know those quizzes are always right.

Picasso and Madonna Have Nothing On My Girls

We are soooo proud of our budding artist. Sidney had art entered in the Oatmeal Festival and she won a blue ribbon. Move over Piccaso, Sidney Leigh has only just begun.

We had the privelage of going to a 3rd grade concert last night. It was all centered around the history of Colorado. You could tell that they had worked very hard on all of their songs. Brooklyn had a special line and did a wonderful job.

Keeping Busy

What does a 4 year old do when he has been snowed in for a record number of days. He plays indians and golfs in the snow. It didn't take him long to lose his stick(from poking the dog) or his golf ball(snow and ball are both white) but he had fun while it lasted. I think it was in the teens that day and he was very frustrated because the ground was too frozen to stick the tee in. He has been very creative at finding ways to keep himself entertained this winter. It is so fun to watch as he plans what to do next.
