First Grade Proverbs

A first grade teacher collected well-known proverbs. She gave each kid in the class the first half of the proverb, and asked them to fill in the rest. Here's what the kids came up with:

3. It's always darkest before... daylight savings time.
4. Never underestimate the power of... termites.
5. You can lead a horse to water but... how?
6. Don't bite the hand that... looks dirty.
7. No news is... impossible.
8. A miss is as good as a... Mr.
9. You can't teach an old dog... math.
10. If you lie down with dogs, you... will stink in the morning.
11. Love all, trust... me.
12. The pen is mightier than... the pigs.
13. An idle mind is... the best way to relax.
14. Where there is smoke, there's... pollution.
15. Happy is the bride who... gets all the presents.
16. A penny saved is... not much.
17. Two is company, three's... The Musketeers.
18. None are so blind as... Helen Keller.
19. Children should be seen and not... spanked or grounded.
20. If at first you don't succeed... get new batteries.
21. You get out of something what you... see pictured on the box.
22. When the blind lead the blind... get out of the way.

Thankful Thursday

Friends
Can you ever have too many? I don't think so. I have been blessed with many wonderful girl friends. All of these women, each one unique, is also very beautiful to me. I was actually afraid at one point that I would lose my friends after becoming a Christian but was I ever wrong. I gain true friends and many of them. Thank You Lord.

Funny Friday

If Julie can have Thankful Thursday I can have Funny Friday so here goes......

An APB on God

A couple had two little boys, ages eight and ten, who were excessively mischievous.
The two were always getting into trouble and their parents could be confident that if any mischief occurred in their town, their two young sons were involved in some capacity. The parents were at their wit's end as to what to do about their sons' behavior.
The parents had heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children in the past, so they contacted him, and he agreed to give it his best shot. He asked to see the boys individually, so the eight-year-old was sent to meet with him first. The clergyman sat the boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is God?"
The boy made no response, so the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God?"
Again the boy made no attempt to answer, so the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face, "WHERE IS GOD?"
At that, the boy bolted from the room, ran directly home, and slammed himself in his closet. His older brother followed him into the closet and said, "What happened?"
The younger brother replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time. God is missing and they think we did it!"

Thankful Thursday

Good Morning Everyone!

The rain is falling the temperature is around 50 degrees and it is a beautiful day. A great morning for a Thankful Thursday. "What am I thankful for?" you ask. I am thankful for my three beautiful children and my wonderful husband. Lately I have been noticing more than ever the gifts that they are to me and how blessed I am to be a part of their days. I am thankful that every day I get to give my girls a kiss before they leave for a big day of school and that I am here when they get home from school.

I am thankful that I get to cuddle and watch cartoons with Zach each morning. That I am able to play trains, pirates, race cars, army, golf and many other wonderful games.

I am thankful for the wonderful father that Brandon is to the kids. He is also a wonderful husband and my best friend.

I am reminded today that my cup runneth over and I have God to thank for every last drop!

The Big "9"!

Brooklyn turned 9 this past week. She gave me her last 8 year old kiss Friday night. Sidney says, "don't worry mom, I'll be 8 in a few months" but that doesn't seem to make me feel better. I can't believe how big she is getting but I am so proud of the little girl she is becoming. She is a great joy and a blessing all wrapped up in an energetic little package.

I had fun making Brooklyn's cake. She is getting too big for Barbie or Strawberry Shortcake so we went with a polka dot theme this year. I used fondant for the dots. I had never used it before so I wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be pretty easy to work with and I was pleased with how the cake turned out.
Brooklyn invited a few friends and we all went ice skating. The kids all had so much fun. Nobody (except me) got hurt so I considered it a success. Many of the girls had never skated before but they were running circles around me before the afternoon was over.

A big thanks goes out to Jan for helping us haul all of the rugrats to the rink. I think they had fun.
