Crazy Eight

Sidney is 8 years old today. She has grown to a beautiful little girl. Everyone seems to be doing a little reminiscing in the blog world so I posted some old pics of Sid and some new ones. She has always been a joy.

What's your cross?

Whatever your cross,
Whatever your pain,
Here will always be sunshine,
After the rain ....
Perhaps you may stumble,
Perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready,
To answer your call ..
He knows every heartache,
Sees every tear,
A word from His lips,
Can calm every fear ...
Your sorrows may linger,
Throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish,
Dawn's' early light ..
The Savior is waiting,
Somewhere above,
To give you His grace,
And send you His love .
Whatever your cross,
Whatever your pain,
"God always sends rainbows ....
After the rain ... "

Funny Friday

Questions about love, marriage and sex were posed to kids ages 5 to 10. Their answers below are enlightening:

WHAT IS THE PROPER AGE TO GET MARRIED??
"Eighty-four! Because at that age, you don't have to work any more, and you can spend all your time loving each other in your bedroom." (Judy, 8)
WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE??
"On the first date, they just tell each other lies, and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date." (Mike, 10)
WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE??
"You should never kiss a girl unless you have enough bucks to buy her a big ring and her own VCR, 'cause she'll want to have videos of the wedding." (Jim, 10)
"Never kiss in front of other people. It's a big embarrassing thing if anybody sees you. But if nobody sees you, I might be willing to try it with a handsome boy, but just for a few hours." (Kally, 9)
THE GREAT DEBATE: IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED??
"It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need somebody to clean up after them!" (Lynette, 9)
"It gives me a headache to think about that stuff. I'm just a kid. I don't need that kind of trouble." (Kenny, 7)
CONCERNING WHY LOVE HAPPENS BETWEEN TWO PARTICULAR PEOPLE
"No one is sure why it happens, but I heard it has something to do with how you smell. That's why perfume and deodorant are so popular." (Jan, 9)
ON THE ROLE OF GOOD LOOKS IN LOVE
"If you want to be loved by somebody who isn't already in your family, it doesn't hurt to be beautiful." (Jeanne, 8)
"It isn't always just how you look. Look at me. I'm handsome like anything and I haven't got anybody to marry me yet." (Gary, 7)
"Beauty is skin deep. But how rich you are can last a long time." (Christine, 9)
CONCERNING WHY LOVERS OFTEN HOLD HANDS
"They want to make sure their rings don't fall off because they paid good money for them." (Dave, 8)
CONFIDENTIAL OPINIONS ABOUT LOVE
"I'm in favor of love as long as it doesn't happen when 'The Simpsons' is on television." (Anita, 6)
"Love will find you, even if you are trying to hide from it. I have been trying to hide from it since I was five, but the girls keep finding me." (Bobby, 8)
THE PERSONAL QUALITIES NECESSARY TO BE A GOOD LOVER
"One of you should know how to write a check. Because, even if you have tons of love, there is still going to be a lot of bills." (Ava, 8)
SOME SUREFIRE WAYS TO MAKE A PERSON FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU
"Tell them that you own a whole bunch of candy stores." (Del, 6)
"Don't do things like have smelly, green sneakers. You might get attention, but attention ain't the same thing as love." (Alonzo, 9)
"One way is to take the girl out to eat. Make sure it's some- thing she likes to eat. French fries usually works for me." (Bart, 9)
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF TWO ADULTS EATING DINNER AT A RESTAURANT ARE IN LOVE?
"Just see if the man picks up the check. That's how you can tell if he's in love." (John, 9)
"Lovers will just be staring at each other and their food will get cold. Other people care more about the food." (Brad, 8)
"It's love if they order one of those desserts that are on fire. They like to order those because it's just like how their hearts are...on fire." (Christine, 9)
WHAT MOST PEOPLE ARE THINKING WHEN THEY SAY "I LOVE YOU"
"The person is thinking: Yeah, I really do love him. But I hope he showers at least once a day." (Michelle, 9)
WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
"It's never okay to kiss a boy. They always slobber all over you...That's why I stopped doing it." (Jean, 10)
HOW DO YOU KEEP THE LOVE ALIVE?
"Spend most of your time loving instead of going to work." (Tom, 7)
"Don't forget your wife's name...That will mess up the love." (Roger, 8)
"Be a good kisser. It might make your wife forget that you never take out the trash." (Randy, 8)

Close Enough To Fall

I love fall. I am looking forward to my favorite season so I changed up the blog again. School starting always makes me feels like autumn is here. So many things happen this time of year....back to school, my birthday, my 10th anniversary this year, Husker football and whoever else is on all day Saturday and Sunday, leaves changing, pumpkin patches, crisp mornings(can't wait), baking(if I want to), craft shows, soccer, etc. etc. etc. I love it all.

God Is Good All The Time

Just when you are ready to write off a prayer as not what God has in mind for us He comes through! Brooklyn got into the school that we wanted her in. We got the call yesterday and my girls will be in the same school!!! WOOOHOOO!!! I know that you may not be as excited as me but that takes my stress level down about 10 notches. We will save on gas, I will be more at peace since the girls will have each other, Zach will get to class on time, and the list goes on and on. PRAISE GOD!!

Livin' La Vida Loca

It is officially back to living the crazy life. School started today. Yeah!!!! Both girls were excited to get back to school. Sidney started a new school and Brooklyn went back to old school. I don't know who was more nervous, Sidney or me, but we made it. Traffic was horrible and we were late but we made it. Brooklyn had no problems since she is getting sooo grown up.(or so she thinks) Zach starts to preschool after Labor Day. I am thankful we get a little time together before I send all 3 of them on their way.

Back In The States

We are back and glad to be. I had a wonderfully eye opening experience while I was in Peru. We met some of the most missionally minded people and we loved being with them every minute. They taught me so much about making the most of every minute that God has given me. Will I take it to heart and put into practice what I have learned? I hope so. We are so distracted by all of our stuff that if we truly stepped back to see what was important our lives would change dramatically. I have had only a couple of days to reflect on everything we saw and did while we were down there and God is teaching me through the reflection. I know he has more that he wants me to learn and can't wait to think back and understand more of the lessons that he has for me.
We started out our time with family camp at La Roca. We were able to put on little volleyball, basketball, and soccer clinics throughout the day and participate in the break out sessions they had for the families. Later in the week we took sports to the streets. We went door to door to gather kids to play with us. What a great time we had!

I know, I know! You didn't know has good I was.

You probably didn't know how fast I was either, did you?(sorry the picture is blurred, lightning fast speed you know)

The winning girls soccer team!!

We had the privilege of staying with Anebelle the first few nights in Peru.
Row, Row, Row, your boat.

Brandon, Jeff, and Kris worked the boys and everyone had fun!

My crazy husband leaped in the ocean. It was way tooo cold for me.

We got to visit the Incan ruins.

Old Town Lima

Just 100 years ago, born again Christians were hung where this fountain now stands.

It's not every day that you get to stand next to a tank with an armed gunman on top. Thank Goodness!!

What a great trip it was. I hope to show you more pics later. I hope you enjoyed these.
